Snowpocalypse Delayed

What fun! Last night we only saw about two inches of snow, followed by rain, followed by snow as the snow/rain line danced over our area before an area of relative calm moved in. I was fully prepared to bag work this morning and work from home (yes, I did have stuff to work on!), but there was no good reason to call in. Of course, the snow started up again after I dropped takaza off at the train station, and by the time I had driven the four miles to work visibility had dropped to about a quarter mile. According to the National Weather Service, we’re in for 12″-14″ of snow by 6 PM tonight; that’s a whole lot of snow in a relatively short time. I’m going to keep an eye on things and if it starts to get really bad out there, I’ll be heading home.

Since we’re flying out Friday evening at around 6, I’m keeping a close eye on the weather, believe me. Right now there’s a slight chance of rain, but that’s about it.

A recently doctored student from my program interviewed at UIC last week. She’s from Korea and she completely loved the snow.

    Your mileage may vary however.

When earlier in the week one of my friends who lives in Phoenix, Arizona reported that for the first time in her life (she’s my age, so 40-some years) her car doors were iced shut, I knew that we truly were in the End Times.

I expect to see an angel clothéd in white showing up with a sacred book of iron pages any moment now…
