Sorry for the day’s delay – yesterday got a bit busy.
cuttercoon – Queer Eye For the Straight Guy does an episode singling out not only straight men, but gay men and/or women. However, for this episode, it’s a “refresher course,” where only one member of the Fab Five shows up to help you fine tune one area of your couture–food/wine, fashion, design, hair/grooming or culture–based on recommendations made by a third party. A well-meaning anonymous friend submits your name to the show. One week later, an SUV pulls up and there’s a knock at the door. Which member of the Fab Five is it, and what are they there to help you out with?
Well, as much as I adore Ted (and think he’s an absolute cutie!), I think I’m pretty competent in the food and wine department. Likewise, while my interior decorating skills could use some touching up, I don’t think they’re tragic enough to require the services of Thom. Because I know a bit too much about chemistry and marketing of body products, I don’t think I would be able take Kyan too seriously when he recommended a papaya-pumpkin facial scrub with liquefied squid scrotum pore cleanser. And I think I’ve got a handle on my music and social skills, so as cute as Jai is, we’ll have to exclude him as well.
So this leaves Carson, and I’ll admit, my wardrobe is indeed tragic and unfortunate. I’ve got too many shirts that don’t quite fit right and a sea of earth tones with very little color. I’m definitely in need of some fashion assistance, so his visit would be quite welcome!
genebreshears – Who wrote the book of love?
Warren Davis, George Malone, and Charles Patrick, in 1958 🙂
siyahamba (Hi! Haven’t met you before.) Which furry convention would you recommend for a first-timer?
See, you’ve put me in a bind here. My gut-reflex answer is, “Why, Midwest Furfest, of course!” but that’s because I’m a wee bit biased, being on staff and all. Anthrocon and Further Confusion are both fabulous, well-run conventions, but they’re also quite large. Mephit Furmeet is a more manageable size, about 450 or so. But MFM has comparatively less programming and more of a social focus – if you’re not a very social person, you could get bored. Midwest Furfest is sort of in between, with a projected 800-1,000 attendees this year. A lot of it comes down to what you’re looking for at a convention: Are you less interested in programming, but want to meet new people? Or are you less of a social person who would like to take in more programming and discussions? Talk to folks who have been to the different conventions, get their takes on it, and then see what you think might work for you. Oh, then come to Midwest Furfest anyway 🙂
serinthia – Do you believe in fate, Neo?
No, but I believe in half-assed second movies of trilogies that are weak placeholders for the finale feature 🙂
evil_dwagon – How is your opinion of me different now than when we first met?
{snicker} Considering that my first opinion of you was formed when we met at a hotel in Woodstock, IL in 1998, well, let’s just say it wasn’t necessarily the most complimentary first impression. Some of that may have been more my fault than yours, though.
Seriously, I’ve found you to be an interesting and dedicated person who is willing to take initiative and get things done. I can absolutely respect that. And it’s a much better opinion than my initial one 🙂
icedog In a knock down, drag out, no holds barred fight to the verge of death between Sean Connery and Ben Affleck, assuming both were drunk as can be and dressed in fursuits- who would win, and how long would it last…
Well, Ben would be stylin’ in his Simba outfit, but Connery’s choice of a spandex skunk suit would just be, well, unfortunate. I don’t think it would last too long before Connery broke his hip. Affleck, being a true Southie, would of course kick Connery in the nuts while he was down, then go drink some more. Probably drowning his sorrows of Miss Fat-Ass From The Block 🙂
So that’s Round Two. I’ll take one more round of questions if anyone is interested. Ask away!
Hee!
Ya know, I *thought* that was when we first met, but wasn’t sure. I still never quite got the full gist of your first impression of me, but I could tell it wasn’t that complimentary of myself.
Hi, no we haven’t met but I saw from a friend’s journal that you were answering questions and curiousity got the cat. 🙂 Nice to meet you!
Faces from the past?
This wouldn’t be the same Siyahamba from TLKMuck long time ago, would it?
Paper or plastic? and why?
