Two things I forgot:
1. chronocoon has finally gotten around to posting a page with his music on MP3.com. He’s a talented musician – you should check out his page, download some of the songs, and buy his album! (If you liked the piano playing in the lobby at MFF, many times that was Chrono playing…)

2. We’ve stopped buying sandwich bread altogether and instead are making our own in the spiffy bread machine my parents got us for our commitment ceremony last year. I make a loaf of bread per week, and I have found a recipe for buttermilk bread that is amazingly easy and perfect for sandwiches.

Buttermilk Bread
Makes one 1.5 pound loaf
1 cup + 1 Tablespoon of warm water
4 Tablespoons + 1 teaspoon Saco Cultured Buttermilk Blend*
3 Tablespoons honey
3 cups bread flour
1.5 teaspoons salt
1 Tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
2.25 teaspoons active dry yeast
3 teaspoons Vital Wheat Gluten** (optional)

Place all the liquid ingredients in the bread machine, then the powdered ingredients. Use white bread setting, light crust.

* – The Saco Cultured Buttermilk Blend is fabulous! It’s a powder that keeps for many months in the pantry, and is an excellent substitute for buttermilk. It’s always an annoyance to see recipes that call for a couple tablespoons or a quarter-cup of buttermilk; I have to buy a quart of the stuff, then have it sit in my fridge until I throw it away. Most grocery stores carry the Buttermilk Blend – look in the baking aisle, or with the powdered milk
** – You can get Vital Wheat Gluten at any Whole Foods Market or health foods store. It’s not a requirement for the recipe, but I’ve found it really adds to the texture of the finished loaf.
