After seeing the great response yesterday’s post about the 2010 IRM Snowflake Special on the CTA tour received (and hearing that I’m not the first to buy a ticket – hat-tip to linnaeus!), I have purchased my ticket for the tour! As a reminder, it starts at 9 AM on Sunday, March 28 at the Rosemont station. For folks coming in from out of town, we have crash space if needed.
So…who else is in?
Ticket bought!
i ride the El all the time and all over the city. Believe me, it’s not that impressive. 😉
Oh, I’ve ridden it many, many times over the last 15 years. I understand that the quotidian usage is unimpressive. But considered from a historical and engineering perspective, I think the El can be pretty interesting*. That and the fact that this will be going to places I’ve never been able to see (or would dare to go unaccompanied) makes it worth it.
* 8 hours of interesting? Well, we’ll see 🙂
I’m kidding. 🙂 I’m a little historic El junkie myself. Maybe I’ll be able to go.
Sounds like a good time, hope you enjoy!
It’s always fun to play “tourist” in your home city.
That sounds fantastic, and I’m really thinking about it. Is there a deadline you’d need to know by?
No deadline really, since the trip will go on with or without folks 🙂 The only limitiation I can think of is how many seats they have available (unknown) and the fact that if you buy your ticket after March 20 you’ll have to pick it up from them at the Rosemont station instead of them mailing it to you.
I hope you can make it! This should be a fun trip.
As an active member of IRM I was going to go but had to back out due to work(railroad on-call). This trip is a good trip. Hope you guys have fun!
Woo, rail geeking! Living next to a class 1 mainline, I’m spent most my time watching and studying up on that stuff, but this looks awesome. I shall see you there!
I’m going to be there.
