OK, so I’ve been feeling like organizing something, so here’s something:
What: Coffee (And Ice Cream) Night!
When: 7:30 PM – 10:00 PM, Wednesday, July 26 (this coming Wednesday)
Where: Bobtail Soda Fountain, 3425 N. Southport, Chicago, IL
That’s a half-block north of the Brown Line Southport station, and the El is by far the easiest way to get there. Street parking is available, though you may have to hunt a bit (the Cubs are not playing at home that night). Bobtail has very tasty (Intelligentsia) coffee, and excellent ice cream as well. They don’t serve much in the way of non-dessert food, but there is a Potbelly Sandwich Works right across the street. takaza and I will probably hit Potbelly at around 7 PM for a quick dinner if anyone wants to join us there. If you’d like us to save you a seat, just let me know, here or by e-mail!
Edit 7/24/06, 8 AM: In response to a question elsewhere, there is a chance this may become a regular gathering, though it would be monthly, not weekly like before.
😉
way too far for me to come for ice cream;0
Re: 😉
But it’s very good ice cream! 😉
Damn, sounds like a nice time! Wish gas wasn’t $3.25 up here in Milwaukee or I’d make the trip.
Don’t think of it as $3.25 up in Milwaukee… Think of it as $3.15 down here by us…
Damn, you know whats awesome…. I have a job that night, IN chicago, that goes until about 8pm. I will totally be there afterwards!
Thanks guys!
I can come to that, I’ll join you at potbelly’s.
I’m interested in the ice cream, but not the sandwiches, as I’m more tempted to try one of the Thai restaurants in the area instead. Any suggestions?
I don’t know the area that well, but the Chicago Reader has some good suggestions.
Hum, if I can swing it, it sounds fun.
Plus I can find that place in my sleep I think.
It’s a nice place, even when you haven’t been walking all day. 🙂
Hope to see you there!
Count me in 🙂
