So I was commenting back and forth with rooth and he mentioned that people needed more to do on Sunday night of Anthrocon, and maybe something like a scavenger hunt would be a good thing to keep them occupied. Well, I have some experience with treasure hunts, and hmmm…

And right about there is where Takaza bopped me with a rolled-up newspaper. Because yeah – what am I really good for by Sunday night? Sleep, and that’s pretty much about it.

Now Thursday night, on the other hand…

🙂

I could go for a room party scavenger hunt. Here are some suggestions:
      – Get one shot of Chocolate vodka
      – Find a member of con staff who is SOBER
      – Get one DI voluntarily accompany you back to the room where the game is being played.
      – Take pictures of at least 5 dealers
      – Take a picture of a fursuit that is (insert species here)

I think you could do some more fun things.. but they’ld be harder to prove… I know we did see in the fursuit parade some suits that.. I suppose weren’t fully stiched together in all spots. That’s a nice way of saying it?

Lol.. we weren’t really looking for it but it was just kinda starting at it as he walked away >.< It was just on the.. wrong damn suit too.. It was done well.. it was just a well known character that.. ugh.. moving on d=
There’s a lot of relatively cheap ideas that could work if you wanted to do a weekend long thing..
Proof you got some wierd furr~ish drink from the bar.
The quik-e-mart had 50 cent simpsons figurines (thinking.. random shit around town)
Maybe X matchbooks from local places.
If people had camera phones I like the photo ones… maybe photo with your species?

You might want to try bouncing them off of , who posted about it in his LJ – I have been informed by Takaza that if I even think of such things he’ll whap me upside the head 🙂

Capricon did this the year I was running the art show. One of the items on the list was a picture of the art show door. Vlad and I put a sign up stating that we were charging $1 to photograph said door. I think at least 1 person actually paid.

You and this FRAC business (FRAP?).
Nice choice of music, though. I heard the original Bowie version for the first time (!) at AC, in the dealer’s room.

I guess I’m a bit biased about this, since I was one of the !exhausted and ++bored people Sunday night, so it didn’t seem to me that it would be difficult or tiresome to run. I might feel differently next year 😉 I finished packing up OPS at 10pm, and then had nothing to do until 4:30am when my shuttle left. 😉 While that may seem late, especially after a long long long con, there were tons of high-energy furries in the two big meeting rooms.
A con-length hunt could be pretty easy to work, and if we could figure out a way to hand out prizes of some sort at the end of it, that would be even better. Perhaps get prints, coupons, and/or other low-end donations from the dealers? And/or a certificate/trophy of some sort?
But whether or not something like that is added to the con fun list, we still need something to do Sunday night. Something quasi-organized. A scavenger hunt would work nicely because it would help to disperse the *loud* crowd to other areas of the hotel and/or surrounding city. Which might not be great, either, especially if it brings them into the vicinity of sleeping guest rooms.
It wouldn’t need to be a collection type hunt–photos would work just as well. It’s best if the scavenger hunt (con-long or Sunday-night-only) didn’t require purchases of any sort. Con-goers tend to be poor, especially by Sunday night. 😉 Also, since a large portion of the Sunday Night crowd were artists and fursuiters, art-themed items on the list would be a plus.
    For example:

    A double-tipped hot-pink marker (photo OK)
A sketch of a stripe-tailed weimeriner eating a banana (no photo)
5 pencils, no two of which having the same hardness (no photo)
    A hook-shaped needle (no photo)
A fursuit consisting of at least 5 different colors (photo OK)
A costume foot with fewer than 3 or more than 5 toes. (photo OK)
    Velcro (no photo)
4 unique plastic or styrofoam cups (each of a different style) (no photo)
4 unique recyclable containers (aluminum cans & plastic bottles of different brands) (no photo)

If you give people something to do Sunday night… Soon they’ll want something to do Monday morning… Then Monday afternoon… Then Monday night… And before ya know it, your 4-day con will become a 5-day con…
