Just some scattered thoughts from today.
Hmm. While reading this review on Slashdot, I was vaguely tempted to finally get off my butt and learn PHP. Then I remembered that I hate programming, and the whole thing would probably give me a headache. I think I’ll leave that to those who actually enjoy such things.
I’ll be honest. I hated Star Wars Ep. I and Ep. II. I might consider going to see Episode III if George Lucas showed up on my doorstep and offered to drive me to the theater and give me $50 to watch his crappy movie. I have to say, though, that this is the hands-down funniest take on Ep. III that I’ve seen yet: Episode III: A Lost Hope.
(And speaking of the Hayden Christensen/Keanu Reeves School of Wooden Acting, what the fsck is Keanu Reeves doing in Constantine? This is a role that was made for Gary Oldman, or any of a number of fine British actors. John Constantine was a Brit, fer chrissake! Mark my words, this is gonna be a suckfest.)
So, Virginia is proposing license plates for those espousing “traditional marriage”. Charming, but about what I’d expect. I really was amused by this (slightly-NSFW) license plate that Waldo Jaquith proposes. Me, I like the idea of a “Separation of Church and State” license plate…
The State of the Union speech is tonight. Sounds like a good night to be a coffee shop, away from any of the Stupid Rays that will be emanating from the television set. So that’s what I’m gonna do.
I came across this while searching around for media coverage of furry fandom and was amused – isn’t it amazing at how many papers will print a story once it hits the AP wire? But hey, the next time your Aunt Sue from Columbus, GA (or Wilkes-Barre, PA, or Grand Forks, ND) asks you about furries, well, at least you’ll know where they probably read about it.
And hey, feren – I’m still worried, and hope to hear some good news from you soon.
Tennessee had a similar incident with their plates earlier, and it’s still up in the air. A group wanted a ‘Choose Life’ plate, which of course didn’t fly with many proChoice groups.

My mom mentioned she heard Rush’s rant on the radio when she was visiting two weekends ago. Ugh.
I found a recording of that rant via the line journal group I hate furries and sent it to my friend in Austrailia, so he could hear what a puss bucket Rush is. What he said made no sense whatever. Claiming people shouldn’t be so happy when there is a Tsunami victims needing help. The corollation was plain stupid. That CON was no different than a masquerade or themed party like they have as Fundraisers (most of the money is spent throwing the party) in Rush’s home town Palm Beach. Yet you will never hear him diss his neighborhood for hapilly flaunting their wealth on lavish parties cause thats not his style. He is a Hippocritical Bastard
In addition I guess I am glad that I am not the only one who notices how all kinds of papers pick up the AP news. This in my opinion has really dilluted the news Americans get. I remember reading the Saturday paper and only 2 issues basically dominated the paper. Tsunami stuff and politics. I went online later that week and found out that there was earthquakes in Alaska and New Zealand, and a cyclonic wind around Madagascaar yet heard nothing not even a blurb about the events in the local paper. Now I am to the point where the news I get is from news delivery to my mailbox. Sheesh the American Newspapers Suck.
Well, to give things a bit of context, many people in the US were raising eyebrows at the US$40,000,000 price tag of Bush’s inauguration gala when tsunami relief was the watchword on everyone’s lips. I think Rush was trying to draw a (poorly-constructed and ill-though-out) parallel between the inauguration and FC, which is completely and utterly laughable.
And yes, between the AP and huge companies like Gannett and News Corp., the quality of American news is appalling. I tend to gather my national news from National Public Radio, local news from the Chicago Tribune, and international news from foreign sources like the BBC.
before anyone gets the wrong idea I was there to poke trolls not to dis the furry fandom.
Strange,, I didn’t realise there were 1700 of us being transported from location to location. Google can be strange {grynn}
