Thanks to everyone who has wished me a happy birthday! It means a lot to me, and I really apreciate it. In a lot of ways I’ve been sort of deferring any expectation of this year’s festivities until next week, when takaza is here and we can really celebrate. Dan wouldn’t hear of that, though, and presented me with my birthday present last night.
I was flabbergasted then, and I still am. This is absolutely beautiful, much more than I ever hoped for! The artist is, of course, the incredibly-talented Kenket, and I’m deleriously happy with her work! And he has COFFEE! I LOVE it! Kenket, I promise I’ll try not to be too much of an annoying fanboy when I see you at MFF this year, but I’ll be sure to be wearing this badge and pointing all the envious people your way! 🙂
Folks here at work have been very nice about my birthday, too, bringing in a couple(!) of cakes, as well as a small basket of candy. To celebrate, we’re ordering out for Hilery’s BBQ, a very tasty local place here. And for dinner, I’m meeting roho, genet, and (Expy alternator willing) feren for tapas. I predict much sangria will be consumed!

To carry this waaaaay off topic, I’d be interested to hear your opinion on Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba! I found it rather tasty, even if it is a Lettuce Entertain You place that has about as much to do with Spain as Outback has to do with Australia.
Actually, I’ve never been to CBBR. My sucky Tapas experiences were at three standalone places in the city and ‘burbs. Nothing was really bad, just lackluster and overpriced. Lettuce restaurants almost qualify as an ethnic category of their own. I’ve had some good meals at them, and I’ve never been particularly disappointed at one as you pretty much know what to expect.
