So, the weeds have been evened out (I’d call it mowing the lawn, but there’s not much grass there) and all the laundry is done. Yay. Still to do today: run some errands and start making a pile of stuff to pack into the car. Make dinner when takaza gets home, then pack everything we can into the Element. Break at 9:30 PM to catch the premiere of The Amazing Race 5. Go to bed far too late, but oh well. Then it’s Wednesday, and the fun starts:
Wednesday
6:00 AM – Wake up.
6:30 AM – Take Dan to work.
7:30 AM – Get home. Drink coffee.
9:00 AM – Start making a whole bunch of scones (good snacks, and they keep for days). Pack the last bit of stuff into the car.
3:30 PM – Leave to pick up Dan at work.
4:00 PM – Get Dan. Hit the road.
8:00 PM – Arrive at the luxurious Comfort Inn Dahlgren. Crash for the night.
Thursday
6:00 AM – Wake up, get breakfast.
7:30 AM – Check out and hit the road.
12:00 PM (or so) – Arrive at the Adams Mark Philadelphia.
Naturally, it’s a train wreck after that. I’ll be checking into our room as early as possible; it will be a trick to see if I can sweet-talk the desk clerks into not only giving me one of the “larger” junior king suites, but also one on the lowest possible floor. Time to turn on the charm! (Remember, kids: be nice to the staff, or you’ll find yourself in a broom closet on the 22nd floor). Once we secure a room and get everything moved in, then it’s off to set up Artists Alley and Con Store, as well as helping out with any other setup that’s needed.
Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Con. Heaven help us.
Incidentally, one of the things we’re packing is a nice keg of homebrew, Husky’s Bane Spiced Ale. If you know me and will know how to find me, feel free to stop by – it’s always fun to share the wealth.
Monday
Try to get checked out of room by 10 AM. 11 AM is more likely, though.
If we can, I hope to detour through Ninth Street Italian Market on the way home. It seems like a neat place to get some lunch and maybe pick up some fresh cheeses. Yummy!
After that, it’s a straight shot home, arriving before 8 PM if we’re lucky.
It’s a good thing we do this for fun. Um, we are doing this for fun, aren’t we?
What, you don’t get the little electric zap if you think anything but double plus good? 😉
I think I’ll have to track y’all down and try a bit of this home brew… sounds interesting to me. Will be good to see you both there, along with a lot of my other family and friends. By Dog, I need a vacation… and AC will fit the bill nicely. I’ve driven over 14,000 miles in the last 4 weeks… and now I get to drive myself and Robert King to AC…. poetic justice? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm
