Joss: I believe that it was Chekov who said that if you bring a loaded chicken on stage, you must fire it by the second act.
Tim: That was from the original series, I guess…

What pisses me off (besides the fact that I work for these bozos) is that just as the series was building an audience they cancel it. did the same with John Doe.
The show was written too well for FOX anyway.
*Hugs you both* Hope Dan and you are well.
Yeah, I could see that John Doe was on its way into the trash can so we wound up bailing on it a few episodes in. I’m kinda glad we did, ’cause I didn’t like the X-File-ish turn it was taking anyway (though the leading man was pretty cute!)
Firefly was just a mess for Fox. There’s plenty of snarky commentary on the DVD’s about it which make it well worth listening to! The good news is that things are apparently looking up for a Firefly feature film in the near future.
{*snug*} Thanks! We’re doing pretty well, and Dan is slowly getting back up to speed. It’ll be a while before he’s at 100%, but every day brings some improvement.
Okay, you’ve convinced me to 1) Buy the collection and 2) Actually listen to a commentary track. 😉
We had some problems during the commentary for “Serenity” (the pilot) by Nathan Fillion and Joss Wheedon because Dan kept laughing too hard, something that is Very Bad if you’ve just had abdominal surgery. I just wish all the episodes had commentary tracks!
And the collection is well worth owning. Not only is the price excellent, you get three episodes that were never aired, as well as a better-than-average “Making of” featurette. And as an added bonus for those who like that sort of thing, one of the episodes has Nathan Fillion’s naked butt!
One curious thing, though – the gag reel on the DVD is chopped up and edited down from the one that’s available online. Go for the online one, because it’s much funnier!
