Well, all’s pretty quiet, actually. No signs of life from either Takaza (big shock there) or the roommate. Coffee is calling me soon, but in the meantime, here’s what’s been going on.
When we started the week, we had no plans for this weekend. That got changed somewhere along the line and I’m still trying to figure out what happened…
Friday’s scheduling worked out perfectly: Meet Dan for lunch at Silvia d’Italia for some tasty panini, then over to the gym for a good workout (a bit much again – my gut still hurts from all those crunches), then to the bank to meet with their advisor to discuss Individual Retirement Account options, then to the grocery store for the week’s shopping. By the time I got home and got everything put away, Dan was just walking in the door. We had plans to go to a neat little restaurant Thomas and Sherry really liked – a cool little Mediterranean place called La Shish that was never too busy but was quite good. Well, when I opened up the paper that morning and saw this I suspected it was going to be a bit more crowded than we thought. And we were right – when we got there the place was packed. We waited about 45 minutes and when it became clear there was no way we’d be getting in soon, we adjourned to our old fallback, Lubrano’s. We (naturally) capped that off with a return trip to Silvia D’Italia for gelato, yum! It was a reminder that parking in the middle of a college town the Friday before exams is quite a feat – having to dodge all the drunken morons and all.
On Saturday, we grabbed a quick lunch here then drove up to Thomas and Sherry’s place to lend them our Tivo (remember, the first one is free 🙂 Well, they didn’t have all the cables we needed, to we had to go over to Home Depot. As we were walking around there, we ran into vileone, Janet, and Ian. So we all did some nice shopping there, then parted ways. We headed over to a nice little Italian grocery where Thomas spotted some tasty bruschetta topping, and plans for an impromptu dinner were made. One quick stop by the grocery store later and we had the fixings for pasta and sausage. While Thomas cooked up dinner, Sherry taught Dan and I how to play Settlers of Catan. I have determined that I suck at this, as I do most all strategy games, but hey, at least we had a good time. I think the wine (2001 Marquis-Phillips Shiraz) helped, but that’s just me. The game kind of fell apart when dinner was ready at 9 (and Thomas, I don’t ever want to hear you talk about how late my dinners get 😉 and we relaxed a bit before heading home.
So today we’ll be having a nice lunch with Jen and Alan, then joining up with Thomas, Sherry, me_not_you and wildmouse to go see X2: X-Men United, which is getting surprisingly good reviews. After that we plan to head on home for a nice, quiet night in. We’ll see if we can pull that off…
And now…coffee!
