Well, it’s official. We sold the house today. With no job offers on the horizon it looks like our best and most economical next move is to move in with John Franklin, who has a larger house than ours (only a third full of his furniture) and he kindly offered the space to us at a price that beats the hell out of any apartment we could rent (plus, he has a basement that’s nice and dry and almost empty. Just the place to store our stuff, yay!)
Closing will be on April 15, so it looks like the weekend of April 12 will be The Big Move. Anyone want to come help?
(I’m not really expecting anyone to come help but if you want to, you’re more than welcome. And I’ll cook for you!)

Well, we were looking to get out of the area so this is one less thing to tie us down here. We’ll miss the house, but not the neighborhood, so it’s not too great a loss. Now we just need to nail down where we’re headed next…

Congrats on selling the house. You caught the market at the right time doggy. Now when it comes to moving….the 12th is when we are having our first meeting, but if I am free that Sunday and you need an extra paw I would be happy to help.

Oh gosh – while we certainly appreciate the offer, we’re a good three hours from Charlotte (and not exactly on the way to Blacksburg). Given that we’re planning to have everything set so that the actual move will take only about 3 hours (I have plenty of time to pack and move small items between now and then), we wouldn’t ask y’all to come so far. Thanks, though!

Thanks! I was thinking about that yesterday – this house has been home to some fantastic parties, and it’s been well-suited to it. I guess it just means that our next house will need to be equally well-suited. And a whole lot less beige!

Thanks! We’ll keep y’all informed of whatever plans take shape. Ideally we hope to get everything packed well ahead of time and stage all the boxes in the dining room. That way when actual moving time comes we can do the move in a couple of well-organized trips.
