I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I really miss a good, heavy snowfall. Not any of these rinky-dink two-or-three inch jobs they usually get down here in North Carolina, but a park-the-car-curl-up-by-the-fire-with-some-hot-cocoa-and-stock-up-you-ain’t-going-nowhere-for-a-few-days kind of snowfall. Looks like y’all in the Chicago area are getting one of those tonight and I’m jealous. Looks like the forecast is for 8-12 inches in the metro area, 6 to 12 inches in Milwaukee. Meanwhile, we’re going to get…rain. Whee.
As an aside for you weather geeks out there, if you want to see the scoop on what’s going on behind the forecasts, and how meteorologists figure out what to publicize, here’s a nifty page (for the discussions in your area, just change the state abbreviation in the URL as needed).

Really, with my compliments. I moved out of the Rocky Mountains for a reason. I love these sunny, cold winter days without any snow or slush on the ground just fine, thanks.
^_^
Plus we get flowers
out here in the NW. My tiny daffodils are already up as are the purple crocus under the rhododendron. The rose bushes are leafing out day by day and the hyacynthis have buds nested in their new leaves. I’m hoping we have our last hard frost– though that means that I’ll have to put out the slug traps again. (Last year they ate beheaded several of my flowers before they could bloom.)
I’m definitely with you on the snow, Mr. Dog. Winter in the midwest has it’s downside, but pretty white snowfalls take some of the edge off the cold and bad driving.
You’re welcome to move back any time. Don’t envy me the snow, though. I can live without it.
