you know, most older homes, and the one I grew up in, had a solution to the laundry problem. The laundry chute. Great for throwing clothes down to where the washer and dryer are. (and little brothers too....)

Believe me, if we could possibly have afforded it, we would have preferred to have a basement! That adds about $20,000 - $25,000 onto the selling price, though, so we had to make some sacrifices. Maybe the next house (in a few decades...)

Yeah, Dan couldn't understand why I always considered having the laundry room on a different floor as the bedrooms. As an engineer, the entire concept of separate floors offends me - you generate the laundry in the bedroom areas, so why not have the laundry there? Gah!

And yeah, there's always that List of Projects. We'll be starting in on those real soon now :-)
