re: insurance card – i ran into the same issue this year when i left my purse in ‘s van – which they then, completely reasonably, decided to drive home in. to VA. a day before my doctor appointment. i called our HR department to get contact info for my insurer, which has a website where you can print out a “temporary card” – really just a webpage with your plan info and participant number. the receptionist didn’t bat an eye…

A quick Google search didn’t really yield any Canadian purveyors of duck fat (D’Artagnan is the biggest US supplier). To tell you the truth, it’s cheaper and probably better to buy a duck locally and roast it to get the fat. I paid US$8 for seven ounces of duck fat – I suspect I could get a lot more witht he bonus of a roasted duck if I just bought the duck and cooked it myself!

Oh lordy, yes! Paulina Market (on Lincoln, just south of Addison) is a fabulous place. Amazing sausages and high-quality meats, served by grouchy old butchers, the way it should be 🙂

And we’re slowly bouncing back – I just need to shake this cough :/
