His speech seemed long and empty to me. Platitudes. He’s going to have to show that he can actually *do* something before I’ll be impressed. Bill Clinton’s inauguration occasioned similar celebrations and feelings of satisfaction, yet his administration achieved next to nothing, and what little it did achieve was quickly dismantled by Bush.

The press keeps comparing Obama to Lincoln, but I think the more apt comparison is to JFK, for a great many reasons. One has only to look at the public “comments” being dumped onto the news websites to see that a divided America is still with us, and the intolerance and even hatred being expressed poses a major obstacle to future gains.

But we didn’t get the day off, had no tv feed to watch it on, and our internet pipe narrowed to the size of a straw around 11:45am.

If history was made, I missed it. 😛
