I’ve always been kind of a weather nut, and looked up to my weather heroes on the TV news. And so I’ve met Tom Skilling, or at least been to his Severe Storms Seminar.

I about had a fanboy moment the time I passed John Coleman in the hallway (we both worked in the Merchandise Mart: I worked for a computer company, and he was at WMAQ-TV Channel 5 up top). But I got it together and said a quiet “Good afternoon, Mr. Coleman” when he passed by.

Wow, now that I looked him up, I realize that I once said hello to the future founder of the Weather Channel. *swoon*
