My HS friend had an old Pacer. It was orange with.. RACING STRIPES. The previous owner was a curious individual.

Hideous-of-aspect though it may be, at least the Pacer has the engine connected to the right set of wheels.

That's barely a resemblance...

There's someone in our part of town who still drives a tan Pacer. I've never seen it actually moving, I keep encountering it parked in the parking lot of the supermarket, or the large drug store, that sort of thing.

One night I was driving somewhere in our neighborhood, and a car pulled out in front of me, and I was absolutely certain I was finally seeing the old Pacer actually being driven.

Then as we approached a lighted intersection, I realized it was the wrong color.

The sad thing is, I have three friends who drive Impreza Wagons, and I had never noticed that the back end is so close to the Pacer...

Too bad Volvo is owned by Ford. While Volvos may well be good cars (although, once upon a time, they had a reputation of being either 400K mile workhorses or absolute lemons, and you couldn't tell which until you'd owned it a while), the Ford Motor Company should go the way of Enron.

I'd like to comment that the primary difference between these two cars is the C30 is an amazing vehical while the AMC pacer was not ;-)

When I worked at Envirotest Systems, testing car emissions for the state of Wisconsin, I saw at least two Pacers coming in to get their "final test" as they applied for their collectors plates. One was in pretty good shape and passed fairly easily, but the other was really worn out and the owners wanted to argue about the results when it failed really badly.

So, when do we see the return of the Ford Pinto?

It does look like the Pacer, but I suspect Volvo would rather you compared it to the early '70s 1800ES wagon...

You know, I was just reading an article yesterday about how Pacers in good condition are selling for large amounts of cash to collectors these days. "Geek" cars are in. :)

The important thing, though isn't that it's a Pacer.

It's a Pacer, driven in reverse!

(To me, it almost seems like a front-to-back mirror of the Pacer.)
