I sadly gave in to watching the final episode of Treasure Hunters, simply because Hell's Kitchen was done with. And I whole-heartedly agree with everything you've said. The whole "let's make this look like an ancient tomb" was laughable, though I applauded the use of the square and compass in many of the puzzle props and associated symbols.
But, like every single other challenge, I figured this one out without even trying. They panned around the room upon first entering, and even remarked "The only symbol that isn't repeated in here is the star." I said 'Press it. That shit always works in the movies.' Lo and behold...
But how anticlimatic! Hey, you press the star, the fake door opens, here's some shiny Scrooge McDuck coins! Whee. End.
I did tune out most of the live reunion, but also had to laugh how the host kept trying to wrangle everyone into order and the cast just completely ignored him. I knew going into it, especially when they said 'We'll reveal exactly how much the Genius' have won, right after this', that they'd each end up getting a million. Which leads me to believe that the amount would've increased or decreased according to the amount of players on each team. Not exactly fair, but eh, the show didn't quite live up to any of the hype it tried to paint itself with.
