I broke my frames a while ago and had to repair them so I could drive to work. The break was on the wire holding in one lens. I fixed it the next day by using a 1/32 drill bit to drill holes evenly about the perimeter of the lens and using button thread to sew the lens to the frame, all the way around. The optomotrist who replaced my glasses was impressed: he said not only was it the first repair of that nature that he’d ever seen, but I had the lens alignment correct to within 5°.
If you post those pictures, I’ll post mine. *grins*

Actually, he tried both soldering them back together and using a cyanoacrylate adhesive (aka Super Glue). There just wasn’t enough surface area available for banding, unfortunately. The only way he can wear them at the moment is taped to his face with medical tape (pictures provided on request 😉
