Are they saying that it is something you did that caused it to fail? I have never taken a close look at your rings, but I am guessing correctly that they are a layered band arrangement? They should never come apart. That is with out some serious heat exposure (like being in a 500 degree oven for a couple of days) or some shotty workmanship on their part, it is just weird.
Just be sure that you ask all the good questions when they call you. Like “shouldn’t this be covered under your manufacturing defects policy?”
