Don’t feel bad – many people get us confused. Takaza’s the guy with the straight blonde hair, I’m the guy with the wavy brown hair. We commonly get asked if we’re brothers. “Uh, not exactly…”
Actually, the impact of the union won’t diminish the need for gophers one bit. First off, only a portion of the convention will be in the Convention Center (the Special Events Ballroom, Dealers Room, Art Show, and Artists Alley, plus a few panel rooms) – everything else (most of the panels, The Zoo, Registration, and the Internet Room) will be in the hotel. The union only gets involved when stuff needs to be moved, like dealer’s merchandise and tables and chairs and such, and they’re only a factor in the Convention Center. There will still be plenty of call for folks to help run the different departments (like Artists Alley, which is my baby), check badges, move stuff around the hotel, etc.

And I was told AC was being organized by a union this year. Does this mean Gophers are no longer required? o.O. I can imagine that’ll leave us with a whole lot less to do…but of course I’ll be there anyhow.
