A lot of the communities out that far can only be driven to during the winter on the “winter roads.” You know – after the lakes have frozen solid, they drive semis full of fuel and food and other supplies out there across the lakes.
Plonq and I were thinking about driving up to Flin Flon this summer just to say we’ve been there. Apparently the drive is very pretty. ^.^

Yeah, after I read the story I pulled it up on Mapquest. The funny thing is, the closest city isn’t all that far away, relatively speaking, but I’m guessing that the roads up that way are complete crap. I admit, though, there’s an allure of being that far out in the bush…

Yeah, I was just getting into Wonderfalls – I agree about the over-the-top-itude. It helped that it had a lot in common in tone with Dead Like Me, a Showtime series created by Brian Fuller (who was the co-creator of Wonderfalls). Ooh, and it looks like not only is Season 1 of Dead Like Me coming out on DVD this month, the second season starts in June. Woo!

Fascinating. I also liked Wonderfalls (Minnear again) but felt it was intentionally over the top sometimes.

We’re both big fans, actually. And yeah, it’s exactly that tone, plus the kind of gritty feeling that permeates the whole series that really attracted us to it. And there’s a movie in the works, too!
