Heh. You left out “Vinyl Confessions,” I think. Yeah, those were the John Elfente albums – relatively undistinguished, though “Fight Fire With Fire” had guitar hooks to die for.
I saw Kansas live back in the mid-90’s, when Steve Walsh had rejoined the band but before Robbie Steinhardt came back. They sounded pretty good, but it was obvious that Walsh had blown out his voice pretty badly in the meantime.
I’ll definitely check out “Somewhere to Elsewhere,” though. Oooh – “Icarus II”. Given that “Icarus – Borne on Wings of Steel” has always been one of my favorites, I definitely need to check it out just for that.

Sadly, because of recent finances, live shows have had to kind of take a back seat. I’ve never had the chance to see Cockburn live, though I’d sure like to!

I was a fan of Kansas under their original lineup, though their last couple of albums, “Monolith” and “Audio Visions”, weren’t as good as their previous work. I quit following them once they started going through personnel changes.
All six original members (and one more recent member) reunited briefly to produce their 2000 album “Somewhere to Elsewhere”. All of the songs were written by Kerry Livgren. It stands up well alongside their earlier material. I highly recommend giving this one a listen, even if you go on ignoring the rest of their more recent albums.
