In reply to <a href="https://wolfhusky.net/duncan/wp/2003/08/games-what-are-those/#comment-940">linnaeus</a>.

Eh, these things just take time. A lot of time, sometimes, but we'll weather it somehow.
A bit of weirdness happened this morning (this gets complicated, but bear with me). My resume went to the company in Elgin, who faxed it down to their subsidiary here in Raleigh, which used to be a joint venture with my former employer. My father has been doing some consulting with this subsidiary; the guy who got the resume showed it to my father's contact (himself a former cow-orker from a few jobs back) and asked if I was Chuck Brady's son. He confirmed I was, and went on to say what a great worker I am and what a good addition to the company I'd be (hey, I've been using the guy as a reference anyway :-) I have NO idea where that's going, but the only way I'd even consider it is if there was some kind of out that would transfer me up to Elgin in the reasonable future.
As for the 16th, well, hot damn! You know we'd love to have you, but I also know the logistics can be prohibitive. If things work out right, though, give us a call and you know we're ready to pick you up at the airport!

: shakes the economy in frustration. :(
The last time I had a gaming night things turned out similarly. Good company is good regardless, but I may try doing a more open invite-ish sort of thing once my schedule opens up again.
As for the weekend of the 16th, I've scheduled time away from work around that time to stumble around in the woods somewhere, but in case those plans get force majeured in some way that still leaves me free on the weekend, I'll keep an eye out for Net Saver fares to RDU...
